If you like the wacky, the weird and the wonderful, if you like a humourous read, albeit with LOTS of gore, you’ll love this one!
THIS BOOK IS NOT FOR THE FAINT HEARTED!!! LOTS OF GORE AND SELF MUTILATION! BE WARNED!!!!
The opening sentence sure made me sit up straight, fast! This was probably, no, definitely, the weirdest book I’ve ever read! As I was reading it, I wasn’t sure whether to cringe or laugh. Well, I did both simultaneously, not an easy feat to achieve, believe me! Between “eeewww” and the “gross” coming out through my shuddering mouth, that said mouth was also emitting raucous laughter. My first impression was one of incredulously, I mean, voluntarily sawing off body parts to try solve a riddle seems a bit extreme, no? I suppose it helps that he regenerates, but still, really? Trapped in a room by a Nain Rouge, a trickster Fae who delights in all sorts of shenanigans, Paul’s only option is to solve the riddle to get out. Of course, if he wasn’t so impetus, he wouldn’t have been in this situation to start off with! Once I got over the horror and gory details right in front of me, I could grasp the wackiness of this story. And I found myself enjoyed it…..now I wonder who’s weird! So as I cling to some semblance of sanity, I find myself looking forward to reading more
